“ONE DAY, I WILL WRITE YOU A LETTER” is a series of analogue collages created from original archival portraits of my grandmother. These photographs were taken between 1950 and 1975 — long before I was born. In them, she appears as a young woman between the ages of 20 and 45 — someone I never knew at that age, yet someone who still lives very deeply within me.
I use the archival images as a base and build my own visual stories, woven from fragments of memory — my grandmother’s handwritten notes, pieces of lace and fabric, dried flowers, and old house keys. Some of these objects hold real memories; others are emotional metaphors for what cannot be expressed in words.
My project is a love letter written across time and space, a reflection on family and on the invisible bond that endures even after farewell. The images echo in a handwritten prayer I have kept for many years — creased, yellowed, yet still filled with her presence.
This is my way of remembering.
This is my way of keeping her voice alive.
