This project is dedicated to Valencia and one of the oldest and most authentic districts of the city - district of Cabanyal, which buildings were declared a Site of Cultural Interest in 1993.

Old barracks, multicoloured tiled facades, fishermen's houses, colourful buildings and modernist structures, a lot of antennas and cables, the labyrinths of Cabanyal – all this preserves its authentic way of life. The houses and streets of the area are badly damaged now, but the residents do not allow anyone to interfere and disturb the flavour of the district, striving for its special unique atmosphere.

I created this project in a minimalistic style using mixed techniques: my own made digital photography of the buildings and paper embroidery around the photos. Thread geometrical lines and shapes on my works are a symbolic continuation of cables, mosaic tiles and antennas that surround all buildings. This craft touch is my reference and a great respect to the history of Valencia, the city which became my new home after leaving Ukraine because of the war in 2022.

With this project I want to show and emphasise a colourful geometry and the variety of architectural forms of Cabanyal district as an authentic historical place out of time.
